Climate Jobs Washington Joins New Coalition to Advance Energy Storage in King County
Climate Jobs Washington is proud to be a founding member of Keep the Lights On! Washington, a newly launched coalition supporting the development of battery energy storage system (BESS) infrastructure in King County. The coalition's first focus is the Cascadia Ridge Resiliency Energy Storage Project, proposed near Snoqualmie.
As Washington transitions to clean energy, a reliable and resilient electric grid is more important than ever — and so are the good jobs that come with building it. Energy storage infrastructure like BESS projects creates quality work for skilled tradespeople, supports union jobs, and helps ensure that communities across the state have access to affordable, dependable power.
Keep the Lights On! Washington brings together labor, environmental, and energy organizations united around a simple goal: building the infrastructure our communities need to thrive in a clean energy future. Founding coalition members include:
Climate Jobs Washington
Sierra Club Washington
Certified Electrical Workers of Washington
Clean and Prosperous Washington
Jupiter Power
“As we modernize our energy system, we have a responsibility to make sure the jobs created are good union jobs that support working families. Battery storage projects like Cascadia Ridge don’t just strengthen our grid — they put electricians, laborers, and skilled tradespeople to work. That’s the kind of clean energy transition Washington needs.” Cassie Bordelon, Director Climate Jobs Washington
